Description

Brundibar: A Musical Tale will take over Burlington's City Hall March 11-13 and 18-20, 2016. Our heroes, Aninku and Pepicek, need the help of 300 schoolchildren to out-sing the bully, Brundibar. To do this we will assemble a Singing Army! Please join us as a member of the Community Chorus.

To participate chorus members will need to learn 2 songs that are sung as the finale. Their character will be one of many brave schoolchildren.

OUR EXPECTATIONS FOR CHORUS MEMBERS:

  • LEARN: On your own time, you will learn the two finale songs by accessing the practice tracks and lyrics from our website. Go to our Community Chorus Page for the link to the two songs.

  • COSTUMES: You are responsible for supplying the base layers of your costume. We will provide you with accessories to match the time period. Required is a light blue button-up shirt and navy knee length skirt or knee length shorts. Please wear solid, brightly colored socks (any color except white) and “dress” shoes -- no sandals or sneakers. Knee socks are preferred. If you don'tt have access to these items (i.e. light blue shirt, navy skirt/shorts, dress shoes) please contact Rebecca Mack as soon as possible. We may be able to help you find these pieces, and we don't want this requirement to stop anyone from participating

  • REHEARSALS: You will attend an optional singing rehearsal on March 8th from 3:30-5:45 p.m. at Very Merry Theater, 333 North Winooski, Burlington. You will attend a mandatory dress rehearsal on Thursday, March 10th from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at City Hall, Contois Auditorium. Please enter through the stage door in the alley between City Hall and BCA.

  • SHOWS: Your "call time" is a half hour prior to showtime (12:30 PM for 1:00 shows; 6:30 PM for 7:00 shows). Arrive with your songs memorized and fully in costume.

  • RECRUIT: Since we need a large amount of kids, please invite your friends. Spread the word, carpool and invite folks to the show. The more voices we fill City Hall with, the better. It will be an amazing experience!

PARENTS/GUARDIANS:

  • SIGN-UP: Sign up the child(ren) for a minimum of 2 performances. Performance are March 11, 12, 13 and 18, 19, 20.

  • Parents/Guardians must submit a medical and media waiver via mail or email. Please CLICK HERE to open/download these waivers, in PDF format.

  • FREE SEATS: By signing up for these performances chorus members attend the show free of charge, will be seated with lots of others kids their age, and participate in the final two acts.

HELPFUL HINTS WHEN REGISTERING:

  • You may sign up one or more children for the SAME show, however you will need to complete a separate registration for EACH show. Our sign up works as if you were buying a "ticket" or tickets per show. Each participant gets one ticket per show.

  • After clicking the Select button and choosing a date, click on the top right hand button to "Register."

  • "Ticket" and "registration" are used interchangeably on this site.
